Traditional Crystalline Silicon solar modules suffer from Performance Induced Degradation (PID), but Stion CIGS modules are free of PID.

Can somebody explain why this is?

Thanks!

So far, Potential Induced Degradation is a characteristic of Silicon semiconductor and crystalline silicon PV cells - it is pretty well managed and understood and not a problem in high quality PV modules - but CIGS modules are essentially immune to it.

CIGS are not inherently immune to PID.

There are ways to manufacture modules that are less prone to PID and there are now certifications available to manufacturers so they can show that their modules will be PID free.
