What can be done to divert power to power my fridge and a couple of lights in the event of a power outage. I'm already using a Honda 2000i generator to operate the fridge in an outage. Is it even worth it to go another route from what I am already doing.

Verne,

You should read our article o AC Coupling

This will give you some good background. If you have a good supply of gasoline, then you can probably run your generator for quite a while.

If you think you want to look into AC coupling to keep your Kaco running in a grid failure, one of our account reps would be glad to give you an estimate for adding a Magnum Off Grid inverter and some batteries to your system.

Many people want to find a way to have their grid tied inverter keep running when the grid is down but there is no easy or inexpensive answer. You can do it by adding another inverter, a battery bank, and a bunch of BOS components. Almost everyone I have known who wated to do this has seen the price and decide the generator was not that much trouble after all.
