Hi All

As part of the permitting process I need to provide either a 1 or 3 line drawing
Since this is my first install of a PV system, I'm unsure what all is needed between the array and the main panel
Can some one provide me a sample of 1 and 3 line drawings that I can copy and modify for my use?

thanks

Todd,Are you able to obtain a copy of written requirements from the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) who checks building plans and performs inspections in your area? This will help us fine-tune our suggestions.
In most cases you will need two items between you inverter(s) and the main panel:
  1. A sufficiently sized lockable and visible AC disconnect
  2. A breaker or breakers, installed in your service panel, and rated for the inverter(s) output current.

I am having discussions with the Dept of Labor and Industries who will issue the permit and perform the inspections.  So far they state there isn't a check list.

But that is a bit off topic,  What I need is a sample of someone's approved installation line drawing that I can copy and modify to match my installation.
The company I purchased the products through provided a drawing but was incomplete and in  error.   When asked to correct these items they'd have to charge for the changes.  Needless to say I won't be using this supplier (wholesale solar) in the future.   What was in error or missing from the schematic was the use of pvc conduit over metallic, a meter to record power generation, master cutoff switch plus a few other items.

So what I need is an approved line drawing that I can modify to fit my install.

If you are unsure of how to do a PV system design going by someone else's design will most likely cause you problems. I would recommend you spend time learning about how to design a PV system and not trying to find another design that you can copy and hope is correct for what you need.
