Can I use step down transformer with large solar panels for 12 volts system?
I would like to add more panels to my existing 12-volt system.
Can I buy large panels (ie: 240 watt) and use a Step Down Transformer? Would this be feasible?

You can use a Maximum Power Point Tracking charge controller if you want to use panels designed for 600v string grid-connected inverter - but you can't just add them to your 12v system.
Why not just get more 12v modules? The Kyocera KD series modules are getting to be almost the same price as grid-tie design modules.
