I am looking to buy DC fuses for a PV system project I am working on with a short circuit current of 2.11A.
What rating of fuse would I need for two different systems, one with crystalline panels & the other with thin film silicon panels. Also, what is the temperature rating of the fuses you would recommend as I understand different fuses vary at different temperatures. The power is 1000VDC. These fuses should act in the same place blocking diodes were.

Evasta,

The calculation method for fuses is; multiply the short circuit current with the safety factor (1.25).

In your case, you need to use a fuse that is close to 2.63 A. The closest possible is 5 A fuse. The fuse size is mostly dependent on your charge controller specifications. You need to look at the max. input current of your charge controller.

Thank you for the reply. I m wondering if you know the temperature factor these fuses will have. Most are rated for 25 degrees, so how will it perform at say 70 degrees?
