What is the REAP Grant (Rural Energy for America Program)?

The USDA's "Rural Energy for America Program," or “REAP,” offers a grant designed to encourage agricultural and rural businesses to maximize their energy efficiency with solar.

	Take advantage of REAP Grant savings The REAP grant can cover up to 50% of your solar energy system costs allowing you to break even in as little as 1 year. There are millions of dollars available to rural and small to mid-size businesses in New Mexico, as well as AG producers through this program.

Solar Incentives in New Mexico

New Mexico provides a 10% personal income tax credit (up to $6,000) for taxpayers that own a business or agricultural enterprise who purchase and install a solar system on their property.

New Mexico has a gross receipts tax structure for businesses instead of a sales tax, and 100% of gross receipts can be deducted for the sale and installation of solar energy systems.

Commercial building owners can participate in the Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing program, which allows owners to borrow money to pay for energy improvements and pay it back over the useful life of the system, up to 20 years.
