This is an old question but I recently found myself asking about shunts, too. Hopefully someone can still answer.
The answer/response above makes sense but I'm curious, how might I discover which shut makes sense for me? I'm working with this particlar charge controller xantrex c35 cc, 35a 24v (http://www.wsetech.com/pdfs/C_series_manual.pdf) and on pg. 45 of the document, it shows space for a shunt but not size. Could you help me figure out which one and explain why?
