The low discharge with the high charging cycles?

Comments

Hey Phill,

From a performance view point the boast a 25 year lifetime which is quite phenomenal.  Secondly, this this type of battery can be drawn down to as much as 20% depth of discharge without adversley affecting their lifespan at 5/C rate.  Which means that the available capacity of the battery from full charge to discharged at a rate of 5hr is going to be greater than that of FLA and AGM batteries which would not be recommended for those two types of batteries as it will shorten their lifespan.

The comprimize is that they are more expensive on up front cost, the footprint of the battery bank and the maintenance of the nickle-iron batteries versus the AGMs.  The IE batteries are more expensive, take up a larger space and require monitoring of electrolyte levels.  If this is not a problem for the application that they would supply then it may make a lot of sense.

why doesn't Greentech Renewables carry them if you feel they are a good battery?
Hi Phil, We do not sell Edison batteries as they do not support the sales post sale. They have a model where they choose to just sell directly to consumers and there is no one available to support these sales. As a company Greentech Renewables believes that we need to be able to support all of our sales regardless of the size of the order. Even though there are some advantages, they are outweighed by the need for post sales support.
