I am going to install a ~7800Wh battery bank at 24V system voltage for my cabin in Sonora, CA.

I'll use a number of 12 Volt batteries.

Is there a difference in terms of capacity usage/ load performance/ overheating risks/ charging performance etc. between using 96Ah batteries or a 250Ah batteries?

In other words, is 'using the largest size batteries for a battery bank' recommended over 'using more number of batteries'?

Cons to using multiple strings to 1 string:
1. Multiple cables increase voltage drop
2. More batteries / more connections to maintain...flooded product, more cells to water.
3. Charger - multiple strings may require larger charger

Example: Using 100A charger
3 strings - current split between strings - each string would receive 33A
1 string - would receive all 100A
Less current, the longer a battery will take to recharge

4. Depending on local codes - each string may require a breaker / fuse.

Pros to using multiple strings to 1 string:
1. If one string would fail, would still have back up, but at reduced time.
2. String replacement...cost could be defrayed by replacing one string at a time. (one per quarter)
