I am concidering outfitting a food concession trailer. I read that you can add a second double box [2 more batteries - a total of 4] to the Xantrex 1800 Power Hub - GFP. I will need it.
What information do I need to buy a pass through generator for this set-up?

The initial information you'd need;
- How much energy is your system going to consume?
With this information, you can calculate an additional battery bank (the energy storage in terms of Ah at 12V). I believe this is critical.
The maximum power to be drawn from the PowerHub is 1440 W. You can use any 120 V-AC generator in the system, but you don't have to buy 5000W because, it's going to be just a waste of money. A 1500W generator would suffice.
I think for a trailer, it could be very useful to install 12V-solar panels too. It says in the installation manual that you'd need charge controller for each solar panel, and it would allow up to 1000 W solar PV system.
