The batteries for my off-grid solar/wind system are 7 years old. I have 4 with one dead cell. My battery system contains 12 batteries. Can I replace half at a time? thanks, Nikki

That is a really good question and one that we get on a regular basis. The answer is that you shouldn't mix batteries in a battery bank because each battery has a different cycle life and voltage if they are different ages and different models. What will happen is that you will drag down the entire system to the performance of the worst performing battery. In addition, you will dramaticaly reduce the life of your new batteries. I hope this helps answer your question.
