We have a potential customer in Hawaii who is inquiring whether the junction box on the Solon panels is "microencapsulated".  I guess he has found that panels without microencapsualted juction boxes tend to degrade the performance of the panels.

Can you point me in the right direction for this technical information?

I am not sure what the term “microencapsulated” refers to in regards to the junction box. It is possible that your customer is referring to a potted junction box in which a resin is used to fill the junction box to encapsulate the electrical components.

SOLON solar panel does not use a junction box that requires potting, instead there is a seal that protects the contents from environmental factors.

Thanks. My Hawaiian installer says he only uses potted junction boxes because of environmental factors in HI (salt water and humidity).

I didn't know the difference between potted junction box vs. a sealed junction box.
