This residential photovoltaic system with battery backup was completed by Clean Solar System with support from Greentech Renewables.

When homeowners in Rincon, Puerto Rico were interested in running their guest house on solar and battery storage, Alex Rowe of Clean Solar System was eager to help. With over a decade of experience in the solar industry, Rowe has helped complete hundreds of solar installations in Puerto Rico; he was previously recruited to help wire up a 400kWh battery storage project in St. Croix.

The project consists of SolarWorld modules, Enphase IQ6 microinverters, and a Simpliphi AccESS unit with lithium-ion batteries. Despite a couple of delays throughout the installation process, the project was successfully completed earlier this year and has been running smoothly since. Rowe insists that his three-year maintenance warranty on all of his systems is crucial in ensuring battery storage systems operate at peak efficiency for the lifetime of the system.

"We will check up on all of our systems at least once a year for the first three years after they're installed," Rowe said. "We offer panel cleaning services, open up battery racking units, and clean all terminals. We understand the investment our customers are making, and we want to ensure they are 100% confident in the way it's operating."

For this particular system, Rowe relied on the tech support of both Schneider and Simpliphi to ensure the acceptable grid voltage range was modified to accommodate a more variant Puerto Rico grid. This guest home in Puerto Rico now rarely uses a backup generator and can power all critical loads throughout the night.
