This partial rooftop, majority carport project at the Robert J. Dole Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, has been an exciting project for Greentech Renewables to support, and the partnership between Efficient Energy of Tennessee ("EETN").
The US Department of Veterans Administration (VA) has been making a strong push to add solar to many of its facilities across the country, with a stated goal to increase its renewable energy consumption to 20% by 2020. EETN has provided the engineering, procurement, and construction for several different locations including this medical center in Wichita, Kansas.
For this project, EETN and Greentech Renewables were able to work together to successfully provide a panel option that fit the requirements of the VA -- American-made and high-efficiency -- ultimately settling on 4,680 of the SolarWorld 280, which is produced at the SolarWorld facility in Oregon.
Efficient Energy of Tennessee (EETN), established in 2009 in Powell, Tenn. by Robbie Thomas, a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force, provides a full array of renewable and efficient energy technologies including solar photovoltaics (PV), solar thermal equipment, HERS ratings, and energy audits. They have successfully constructed hundreds of utility, commercial, and residential solar installations in the 5 years since they were founded.
