Fabricated in SolarWorld’s Hillsboro, OR headquarters, these modules feature the company’s new 4.0 frame design which minimizes scratch risk, has integrated drainage and improved cell manufacturing techniques.
By incorporating big-panel power in a high-efficiency 60 cell footprint, this module is ideal for projects with tight roof constraints. Key to maximizing production of the 60 cell platform is SolarWorld’s considerable investments in Passivated Emitter Rear Cell (PERC) technology. By introducing a non-conductive dielectric layer below the cell, light that is normally lost is reflected back towards the cell. Upgrades have also been made in manufacturing capability allowing for up to five busbars per cell and decreased spacing between fingers. Together these modifications shorten the distance electrons travel, thus minimizing losses. Paired with PERC technology the retooling of cell conductors promises 2% module performance gains.
Although several companies advertise the capability to produce PERC modules, SolarWorld is one of the few to successfully advance the technology to the point that is cost effective for consumers.
