Racking and mounting can often be the most complicated portion of a solar PV system installation. The racking is the foundation of the system - it protects the modules, the roof and people over a lifetime that can exceed 25 years.
It should be noted that in most cases the racking and mounting system constitutes roughly 10-25% of the cost of the total solar system cost. At Greentech Renewables, we've generated a table in order to provide a rough overview of the approximate costs of several mounting options.
NOTE: The total cost of the system may vary depending on the size of the project. (Please note that the minimum order sizes of racking items were ignored during the calculation).
Moreover, some racking systems may not be suitable for some sites, and this is in no way a complete list of all racking solutions available - just the ones we have the most experience with at this point in time. That being said, we wanted to provide a way to look at a given site and compare the costs of various ways to install the array - Flat Roof, Pitched Roof or Ground Mount...
Assumptions: For a 1 kW system, we've used 8 Kyocera GX135 (4 columns x 2 rows) solar panels; for the 4.5 kW system, we've used 20 x Trina TSM 220 (10 columns, 2 rows).
